This is a question I've been wondering about today. Can you tap to help you love yourself? I know plenty of people who have what I'd call a natural self-esteem - whatever happens, they're underlying feeling about themselves is positive. This seems to be a normal way to be.

Myself, I don't have that, and I've always grounded my self-worth in things that I do, achievements, popularity, and so on. I realize now how silly this is, and I want to change it. But how should I go about tapping this problem? The issue for me is that I see tapping as ordinarily a way to release trapped energy, accept negative feelings, and so on, but developing self-esteem presumably involves actually putting something IN. You need to generate positive feelings, not simply let go of negative ones.

Has anyone got any advice on how to tap this?

Hi Monkeydust,

That's a great question. You're right that tapping is usually used to release negative energy,
and it would be helped to put something positive IN in this case.

I would recommend that you use the Choices Method to do just that. If you don't know about
the Choices Method, go to the emofree.com web site and search for that phrase. You'll find a
tutorial article there.

The Choices Method is an excellent way to not just reduce the negative but also bring in the
positive. It use it with my clients in those cases, like yours, where it is desirable and helpful to
bring in something positive.

Good luck!

I agree with CW. You definitely want to tap on the early experiences that led you to
not loving yourself. I still agree with Monkeydust that it is helpful in this case to bring
in positive energy while working through the negative formative experiences. It would
help to move in a positive direction more quickly.

Warm regards,
Stefan
